Maria Meng-Papantoni is born in Athens and is  Professor of European Business Law at Panteion University of Athens, as well as a Visiting Professor in the Postgraduate Program (LL.M European and International Law) of the Europa-Institute of the University of Saarland-Germany.

She studied law at the Universities of Athens and Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). She holds a law degree from the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as a LL.M degree (D.E.A. droit des affaires et droit économique) and a doctorate from the University of Panthéon-Assas (Paris II). She was a NATO fellow.

She was a Visiting Researcher and Fellow at the Institute of International Economic Law at Georgetown University-USA (August-September 2009). She has lectured at the Law School of the Wuhan University Law School, of the Yunnan Province Law -China, and at the Reinmin-Beijing University Law School (Summer International School 2015)

She is the Director of ECECRIL (European Center of Economic and Criminal Law). She is a peer-reviewer of the legal journal ‘Zeitschrift für europarechtliche Studien’ (ZEuS) and a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal ‘European Law’.

She is a member of the Hellenic Union of European Law, the Hellenic Society of Energy Law, the European Federation of Energy Law Associations (EFELA), the Hellenic Branch of the International Law Association, the European Society of International Law, the Hellenic University Association of European Studies (EPEES), the Hellenic Society of International Law and International Relations, the Association of Greek Commercial Scientists, the Hellenic Association of Energy Law and the Hellenic Society of Banking Law and Capital Market Law.

In addition to her academic activity, Maria Meng-Papantoni is a lawyer of the Bar Association of Athens and practices advisory law.
